This is how we build

First, the floor plan of the raised bed is marked on the floor. Then dig a pit at least 10 centimeters deep and remove all growth, especially existing root weeds such as bindweed, ground elder, Couch grass or horsetail. Solidify the soil well, for example with a vibrating tamper borrowed from the equipment rental. Now fill in a thick layer of gravel and crushed stone - this will serve as a

drainage - and carefully compact this layer too. Now build the wall by carefully piling it up brick by brick so that everything is stable and nothing wobbles. The stones in a row should always be offset from the previous row - so that they are never joint on joint. Finally, you move that Weed control(€ 13.47 at Amazon *) as well as the rabbit wire.

Pay attention to the angle of inclination

The amount of soil inside a raised bed of this size is kept within limits, so that the earth pressure on the bed walls also remains within an acceptable range. In this case, you can safely do without an angle of inclination (sometimes also referred to as "approach"). Instead, erect the raised bed border in a vertical construction. Incidentally, with larger beds, a greater wall thickness (depth) ensures more stability.

Tips

During the construction of the raised bed border, you can integrate a number of nesting aids into the bed walls. Not only wild bees are happy about drilled hardwood disks or blocks or perforated clay bricks. In smaller cavities or Wall crevices feel against it Bumblebees, Spiders, lizards, beetles and, in winter, butterflies. Wood wool and leaves, on the other hand, are the perfect nesting material for ladybugs and earwigs.
