The demands in the garden pond
Spring moss is very undemanding and easy to care for. It doesn't have to be planted, just thrown into the water. It multiplies relatively quickly and after a few days it will attach itself to some places in the pond. Alternatively, spring moss with its adhesive organs can be attached to stones and roots and also grows firmly on substrates. How many others Moss species it gets by with little light and settles down to 20 meters deep without any problems.
Maintain spring moss in the garden pond
The resistant fronds attach themselves to places that are not suitable for other aquatic plants due to the low incidence of light. Additional fertilization is not necessary, as spring moss has only a very low nutritional requirement. Fertilizer applications can be carried out in the summer months, which will lead to a particularly rapid reproduction of the plants.
How is spring moss propagated?
Since the long shoots should be cut back anyway, you can use them for propagation at the same time or you can simply divide the cushions of the plants and tie them again in the desired places in the pond on.
Tips
If you make the effort and cut back the spring moss a little more often, the growth of the plants will be particularly dense and very compact afterwards.
