Tear down the wall
In addition to a hammer and chisel, you can tackle the garden wall with an angle cutter with a diamond attachment or with a hammer drill. Be sure to wear when doing this work
- Breathing mask,
- Safety goggles,
- Gloves and
- Safety clothing.
Remove the foundation
Depending on the amount of rebar and the type of concrete used, removing the strip of concrete can be quite a hassle. If no steel was used, make incisions with a diamond disc at regular intervals and then cut off the pieces.
However, if you find reinforcement with structural steel, you can only get ahead with a jackhammer at this point. It is very exhausting work. If the circumstances permit, you should therefore rent a mini excavator with a chisel and backhoe.
Remove rubble
When a garden wall is torn down, there is a lot of rubble. It is worth renting a construction waste container for disposal. To calculate the cost of this, you must first correctly calculate the amount of rubble. This is quite easy with a privacy screen:
The length x width x height of the wall gives the cubic meters of rubble.
In the same way, you can calculate the amount of the foundation.
You may be able to save money if you don't dispose of the garden wall as mixed construction waste, but instead separate the materials such as concrete and brick. In any case, it is worthwhile to carefully compare the prices of the local recyclers.
Tips
If a container is to be ordered, you must first obtain a permit from the city. This is chargeable. In addition, there are fees for the service life, depending on the size of the container.
