Proper care is important

Whether you grow jasmine in a bucket, as a bonsai or in the room - the right care is important if the ornamental plant is to be kept for several years:

• repot

Never let the potting soil dry out completely, but be sure to avoid waterlogging. Regular fertilizers are necessary during the vegetation phase.

Even if jasmine does not necessarily have to be cut, you should use scissors in spring to shorten the shoots. You will achieve better branching and the formation of many flowers.

Rejuvenate old jasmine plants

Older specimens have fewer and fewer flowers over time. These plants can be rejuvenated so that you can enjoy them longer.

Shorten the jasmine by two thirds before it sprouts in spring. For the next two years the jasmine does not bloom at all or just a little. The flowering is all the richer in the following years.

Real jasmine is not hardy. If you want to grow him for several years, you have to bring him indoors in winter. He overwintered in a cool, bright place that shouldn't be drafty.
