Before greening your garage, you should make sure that your garage roof can support the weight of the garage Green roof endures. 1. Clean the roof

First, sweep the roof thoroughly, removing leaves, sand, and other debris.

2. Lay the protective film

The protective film protects the roof from dirt, moisture and possibly aggressive roots. Root protection film is especially recommended if you want to plant larger plants or even shrubs. However, this is not recommended for a garage roof in order to avoid excessive weight.

The protective film is laid over the edge. If several protective films have to be used, an overlap of about one and a half meters must be observed.

Cut holes in the foil at the point of the water drains so that the drain remains functional.

3. Lay the protective fleece

Now lay the protective fleece without creases and with an overlap of 10 cm. Cut the flow here as well.

4. Lay drainage, filter fleece and inspection shaft

Now lay the drainage elements. The individual panels are either pressed into one another so that the overlap is natural or should overlap a few centimeters. Again, the process is to be left free.

This comes as the last shift Filter fleecethat prevents the drainage from clogging. Here, too, attention must be paid to the overlap and the sequence.

Now place the inspection shaft on the drain opening and fasten the shaft cover. A generous amount of gravel is placed around the inspection shaft.

5. Substrate and plants
