Strength and scope come with the years
When a Oak tree in the garden is planted, their trunk is still very thin. The young tree needs a post as a support so that strong winds do not bend its trunk. Over the years, however, an oak tree trunk cannot be cut down by anyone or anything.
- the trunk grows stronger every year
- can reach a circumference of about 3 m
- in the open area even up to 8 m

Different trunk lengths
Oak trees become large trees, some species reach heights of up to 30 m. The taller the tree, the taller the trunk. Nevertheless, there are species in which the trunk is relatively short because the crown is formed low.
Sometimes straight, sometimes crooked
More than 600 oak species can be found in the northern hemisphere. It goes without saying that not all Oak species have an identical looking trunk. While it rises straight up into the sky in the swamp oak, for example, it is often crooked in the downy oak.
The common oak and sessile oak species that are most widespread here have a similar trunk.
The outer dress, the bark
The trunk is covered by a protective bark, which is thin and smooth at the beginning. Later a thick and severely cracked bark develops from it. The color also changes over the years. While the bark of a young oak is usually light in color, it darkens over the years and turns brown.
Valuable oak wood
The oak can be found in gardens and parks and of course in the forest. While the first two cases are about their appearance and their shade-giving crown, the oak in the forest is worth money to its owner. The trunk of the oak contains wood, which is in great demand on the economic market. It is strong and durable, can be used on furniture and even outdoors.
