Clean and cut king oyster mushrooms - that's how it works

Like all mushrooms, king oyster mushrooms taste best fresh. That is why they are cleaned straight away at home and, if they should be put in the pan immediately, cut too. If you want to keep the mushrooms in the refrigerator for a few more days, it is best to leave them whole and simply wrap them in a damp cloth. Otherwise clean and cut the king oyster mushrooms as follows:

  • Cut off the dried up end of the stem.
  • Under no circumstances should you wash the king oyster mushrooms, they draw a lot of water.
  • Now carefully clean them with a small paring knife.
  • Cut away dark spots and remove the dirt.
  • Rub the hat and stem with a damp cloth.
  • Now cut the king oyster mushrooms lengthways into thin slices.
  • This works best with a vegetable slicer.

Then you can prepare the mushrooms straight away - for example fry them in a pan with butter - or you can freeze, dry or fry them. Preserve soaking.
