preparation

Especially if you get the pallets directly from a transport company, they often have unsightly signs of use. Therefore, first sand the wood and paint it in a color of your choice. Weatherproof paint ensures that your new garden furniture does not weather.

Assembly instructions for the lower part

First, the lower half of the beach chair with the seats is built. To do this, make two Euro pallets(€ 29.99 at Amazon *) upright at a distance of a Euro plate. The area provided with slats is directed inwards.

The Euro pallets have a central strut. Connect the two pallets to the right and left of this with 2 boards. Make sure that the center and outer bars of the pallet are evenly spaced.

Another Euro pallet serves as a back wall. Screw this on in the next step. The fourth pallet is now placed on the boards. This forms the generous seating area. Also screw.

If you want to attach castors so that you can move the beach chair easily, place it on the backrest and attach it to the four corners. It is advisable to use castors with brakes, such as those used for furniture. This prevents them from slipping away unintentionally when they want to sit down. Even in households with children, you should only use castors that can be braked.

The upper part of the beach chair

Now it is time to assemble the backrest and roof. Have you decided against castors, for example because the garden furniture is on a soft surface it is advisable to attach it in such a way that the screw connection can easily be loosened for transport leaves. Screw connections with wing nuts are a good alternative in this case.

Again, two pallets are screwed together as a side wall with a Euro pallet, which serves as a rear wall. Attach at least one more board to it. The last Euro pallet is placed on this (s) and connected with screws so that the beach chair has a stable roof. Now put both beach chair parts on top of each other and connect them.

Alternatively, you can attach the backrest at a comfortable seat angle. To do this, you have to put the whole Euro pallet down accordingly bevelso that the desired incline results.

Make the roof weatherproof

Depending on your individual taste, you can now cover the roof with roofing felt or another material. The covering ensures that you do not get wet even when it rains and that the upholstery stays dry in bad weather. Make sure to nail the roofing felt with special pegs.

It looks very attractive when you embellish the upper part with awning fabric. You can easily attach this with stainless staples and a stapler. When doing this, fold a hem, otherwise the open cut edges could fray.

The equipment of the beach chair

To make it really cozy, the beach chair is equipped with soft garden seat covers or lots of pillows.

Alternatively, you can build the upholstery for the seats yourself. For this you need:

  • Screen printing plates
  • Foam
  • Awning fabric
  • Spray adhesive, suitable for foam
  • Tacker with staples

each in the size of the seat and / or backrest.

instructions

  • First, glue the foam panels to the screen printing panels with the spray adhesive. This makes it easier to cover the upholstery with the fabric later.
  • Now lay out the awning fabric smoothly and place the screen printing plate on it. The foam side comes to rest on the fabric.
  • Fold the edges of the fabric like a hem.
  • Staple the opposite sides. Tension the awning fabric so that there are no unintentional creases.

The finished upholstery can now be screwed to the seat and backrest from below.

Tips

The side walls of the self-made beach chair can also be embellished with covered screen printing plates. Planters to hang up give the garden furniture made of Euro pallets the finishing touch.
