Tips on offcuts

  • Thin out the crown until the branches are 20 centimeters apart
  • Cut dry branches into healthy wood
  • Remove wood that is growing inwards and upright
  • Stimulate branching: shorten faded shoots by five buds

Make sure that clean and sharp cutting tools are used. Protruding stubs are to be avoided because of the possible risk of infection.

Radical cut

An ideal time for a radical pruning is early spring between February and March. Choose a frost-free day with no sunshine. A maximum of one third of the Woods is blended. The advantage of this method is that even older shoots sprout again vigorously.

Care cut

You can get the Prunus cerasifera Nigra in old age blend. Cut dry or bare shoots generously. As a result, the blood plum often forms numerous water shoots. It is recommended that you remove them immediately. In addition, fruit shoots already grow in the following vegetation period.
