What plants need
Most Crops need plenty of sun during the main vegetation season from May to August, at least eight hours a day. The morning sun dries the leaves quickly and, like the wind, helps against it mildew and other fungal diseases. If the sun does not fall on the bed until around noon, it should illuminate the plants until sunset.

Can you also put a raised bed in partial shade?
However, there are also cultivated plants that only use Penumbra get along. This includes, for example, many herbs, but also strawberries, berry bushes, lamb's lettuce and Swiss chard. Five to six hours of sunshine are enough for these species.
A practical location makes maintenance easier
In addition to the needs of the plants, those of the gardener should also be taken into account when choosing a location. The raised bed should be as space-saving, accessible and as possible visually appealing to be placed. These conditions are met, for example, directly on the terrace or the barbecue area. If the raised beds are further away from the house, a level path about 80 centimeters wide makes it easier to access them.
Tips
Raised beds with ornamental plants, on the other hand, can be placed in sunny, partially shaded or shady locations. In any case, choose those plants that are optimally suited for the respective location.
