If the foliage plant is in front of an often tilted window or directly at a door, cool air constantly caresses the foliage. The plant does not like this at all and it reacts to this by turning the leaves yellow.
remedy
Place the Dieffenbachia in a sheltered, warm place where it will recover quickly.
Wrong location
It also reacts to a lack of light in a very dark place Dieffenbachia sensitive.
remedy
A partially shaded location, for example on a west or east window, is ideal. If the Dieffenbachia is a little away from the window, an hourly switch takes care of it Plant lamp(€ 65.50 at Amazon *) for enough light.
Bad indoor climate
Especially in the winter months, the humidity in the apartment often drops to an area that is not at all comfortable with jungle plants such as Dieffenbachia.
remedy
In this case, improve the climate by:
- Set up an indoor fountain.
- Position evaporation dishes near the plants.
- Fog or wipe the leaves regularly.
Has too much or too little been poured?
Did you mean too well when you watered or did you water too sparingly for fear of root rot? This, too, can initially lead to a yellow coloration of the foliage before it dries up and is finally thrown off.
remedy
Water the Dieffenbachia whenever the top inches of the substrate feel dry. Any excess water in the coaster should be poured away after a few minutes.
Tips
It is natural for the Dieffenbachia's lower leaves to die off and be shed. If the plant becomes bald, it can be cut back to about eight inches. It then sprouts fresh and vigorous.
