Do not pour the substrate until the surface is dry. In the middle of the plant is the so-called cistern, which must always be filled with water. Regular spraying increases the humidity.
Use lime-free, lukewarm water, preferably rainwater for watering and spraying.
Do you need to fertilize lance rosettes?
As an epiphyte, the lance rosette only needs a few nutrients. Fertilize is therefore superfluous. If you do not want to do without fertilizing, add highly diluted liquid fertilizer to the cistern every two weeks from April to September.
Will a lance rosette be cut?
Except for the children you care for Multiplication can use, the lance rosette is not cut.
When does the lance rosette have to be repotted?
The lance rosette dies after flowering. However, it can take a while for it to bloom. Repotting is only necessary if the pot is completely rooted and the plant is not yet in bloom.
Is the lance rosette susceptible to diseases and pests?
Lance rosettes are very robust. Diseases only occur if you water the plant too much or if there is no water in the cistern. If there is waterlogging, there is a risk of rot.
Pests such as aphids and scale insects spread well, especially in winter when the humidity is too low. Use the shower to rinse the plant down. Increase the humidity in winter by placing bowls of water.
How do you properly overwinter a lance rosette?
Since the lance rosette is not hardy, it must be cared for in the house in winter. Even during the winter, the temperatures should not drop below 15 degrees.
In winter there is only very moderate watering.
Tips
Lance rosettes only bloom for one season and then die. Before you dump them on the compost, however, be sure to check the Kindel detach to new offshoots of the Aechmea to breed.
