Pre-treat the wagon wheel
Whether your wagon wheel is made of wood or iron, so that it will last you a long time, you can treat it before you plant it. The best way to do this is to paint it with a weatherproof varnish or glaze. Otherwise the wood will gradually disintegrate or the iron will rust. If you like this vintage effect, you can of course leave the wagon wheel untreated.
Place your treated or untreated wagon wheel on healthy soil without plants, grass or stones and fill in the spaces with good garden soil.
