How high will pampas grass get?
The height of the pampas grass is impressive. The inflorescences of normal sortsAs they are often found in gardens, they reach a height of 2.50 to 3 meters in one season. The long, pointed leaves are much shorter at around one meter. Of course there are also lower varieties, but they can be wonderfully combined with the higher varieties.

In order for the pampas grass to get that high, it takes something care:
- water when dry
- fertilize regularly
- prune back in spring
The long stalks stay on the plant through winter because they provide good protection against moisture. They are tied at the top with a ribbon and thus look very decorative even in winter - especially when they are covered by hoarfrost or a blanket of snow.
Plant pampas grass as a privacy screen
Pampas grass is cut back in spring, but growth is very rapid, so that the final height is reached after a few weeks. However, the flowering period usually only begins in late summer or autumn.
Should the pampas grass one Privacy screen for the terrace or balcony, plant several perennials about one meter apart. You are welcome to use several varieties combine and plant yellow, white or pink pampas grass next to each other.
Pampas grass in the bucket stays lower
Pampas grass can be turned into a large bucket pull easily. Here, however, the fronds do not reach the same height as in the field. This is because the roots don't have as much space as in the garden bed.
In any case, varieties that are not quite as tall are better suited for care in the tub.
Tips
Because of the height of the inflorescences, pampas grass should only be planted in a sheltered location. Strong gusts of wind simply bend the stalks and the ornamental grass doesn't look so much anymore.
