Where are mangoes grown?
Mangoes originally come from the tropics, but in India they have practically become the national fruit. The individual regions argue lively about who is the best Mango variety Has. You can't tell where the fruit in the supermarket comes from. Unfortunately, as far as their origin is concerned, the mangoes are not always well labeled. Often the only thing that helps is asking or researching which variety grows where.

To the greatest Mango growing areas still belongs to India, many mangoes also come from Thailand, the Philippines and Pakistan. Brazil, parts of Africa, Israel, Central America and Australia are important producers of mangoes in addition to Asia, but they are now also grown in southern Europe.
If you spend your vacation in Spain, for example on the Costa Brava or the Canary Islands or on the Portuguese flower island Madeira, you may be able to enjoy fresh mangoes there. Spanish mangoes are also exported, whereas the mangoes from Madeira are just enough for the Portuguese and their vacationers.
