The months of the main flowering
If the hydrangea feels comfortable in its location and has been adequately fertilized, the first flowers will appear in June. They remain until well into September and do not have to be removed in winter either. Covered with frost and snow, they give the garden a morbid charm.

Do not cut hydrangeas after flowering
Many hydrangea species begin to flower for the next year at the end of the flowering period in late summer, when the daytime temperatures drop below 20 degrees. It is therefore advisable to only cut out the dried branches in autumn so that you do not have to do without the flowers in the following year.
Beware of late frosts
Night frosts in spring can almost completely destroy the hydrangea's flower base. You should therefore not only pay attention to sufficient winter protection in rough areas. It is advisable not to break out withered flowers in autumn, as the withered umbels provide natural protection against frost.
Tips & Tricks
Cut Hydrangea flowers for the vase relatively late in the flowering period, because only then do the petals have sufficient firmness. If the flowers in the vase appear fragile and lose their color, you can dry them and put them in bowls to use as attractive room decorations.
