What should be considered before wintering?

Through a light cut, in which everything that has withered away and the shoots are shortened to about half, the wintering is made easier for the small shrub. This means that very large specimens also require less space in their winter quarters. During the pruning, check the plant thoroughly for pest infestation and fight uninvited guests if necessary.

Winter in a cool room

A light and frost-free place with an average temperature of around eight degrees is well suited for wintering. The root ball must never dry out completely, even in winter. Water the plant as soon as the top inches of the soil feel dry. Moderate watering is sufficient, there is no fertilization at all.

Winter in the living room

The tropical plant can easily be cared for in a warm living room. Here, however, it does not take a real break and forms new flowers throughout the winter. As a result, you must pay attention to the following points:

  • The location must be as bright as possible.
  • Water sufficiently when it is dry.
  • Also in winter it is done every four weeks fertilized.
  • Regularly remove dead and dried leaves.
  • The plant is sensitive in the room and we like to be attacked by pests. Therefore check frequently.

Tips

Particularly in cold rooms with low air humidity, the convertible rose evaporates a lot of moisture from the leaf surface even in the winter months. Here it has proven useful to loosely tie the cut back plant.
