The crochet flower pot

Those who embellish their windowsill with flowers and also like to crochet, can combine both hobbies well.
A flower pot can be provided with a decorative, crocheted cover in no time at all. With different yarns and patterns, the crochet pot becomes an eye-catcher on the windowsill.
If waterproof yarns are used, the special flower pots can even stand on the balcony or terrace.

The necessary tools

In principle, all possible yarn remnants can be used. Even plastic cords, raffia or thin packaging tape are suitable. All you need is the right crochet hook and simple instructions.

Crochet pattern

Cast on 6 chain stitches (LM) for the bottom and close them with a slip stitch (KM) to form a ring.

  1. Now crochet two single crochets (sc) in each ch, so that the ring now consists of 12 stitches (sts). End the row with a KM on the first sc.
  2. Alternately crochet 1 sc, then 2 sc in the following sts, sts a total of 18.
  3. Row 3: Work one sc continuously, then 2 sc in the next st, then again 2 separate sc, at the end 1 sc, a total of 24 sts.
  4. Round 5: 2 sc, then 2 sc in the next stitch, 4 sc, end of 2 sc, 36 sts in total
  5. Round 6: 5 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, 42 sts in total
  6. Round 7: 3 sc, then 2 sc in the next stitch, end of row 6 sc, 48 sts in total
  7. Round 8: 7 sc continuously, then 2 sc in next stitch, 54 sts in total

The bottom can be made larger with further increases. Now we are working upwards.
If the pot is straight, there are no increases. You now always pierce the back loop and work in the round until the required height is reached.

If the flower pot is tapered, increases are necessary. In round 1, every 9th M 2 sc. In round 2, every 10. M 2 sc etc. Crochet like this up to the edge of the pot. A pretty border can be crocheted at the end.
