At which location does Zierapfel feel comfortable?

Assign a crab apple to a sunny, warm and air-bathed location. The more sunlight the wood can absorb, the more opulent the flowers are. An airy location allows the foliage to dry faster after a rain and thus prevents the dreaded Scab disease before.

What should the soil be like?

So that a crabapple shows its best side, we recommend a nutrient-rich, humus-free soil. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value is just as beneficial as a fresh, moist and well-drained texture. For cultivation in the bucket, we will design a mix for you Compost soil, some clay, sand and Perlite(€ 37.08 at Amazon *) Respiratory flakes to the heart.

When is planting time?

Trees grown in the container can be planted during the entire growing season. As long as the ground is not frozen or desert-like dry, a crabapple will quickly establish itself. The best time to plant is from September to November.

How is the ideal planting distance measured?

One of the characteristics of crabapple is that it thrives as a shrub in both width and height. Its crown unfolds accordingly expansively as High trunk. As a solitary plant, we recommend a planting distance of 300 to 400 cm. To form a dense hedge as a shrub, place the plants at a distance of 150-200 cm.

What should you watch out for when planting?

If you pay special attention to the following measures, the planting of ornamental apples will proceed properly:

• The planting pit is so spacious that the root disc is a few centimeters below the surface of the soil
• The excavation is enriched with ripe compost and horn shavings
• Firmly press the soil down for a veritable ground seal

The key to a successful planting is an adequate water supply. If you water abundantly and regularly on the day of planting and in the following period, the rooting will progress quickly.
