What is important when pouring?
Watering is essential in the care of the pseudo berries. These plants do not tolerate drought. If you had the choice you would prefer short-term wetness to short-term dryness. Hence, you should get your Shamberry Water regularly in summer heat, in dry seasons and also when there is no rain! Rainwater should be used for watering.

Does the pseudo-berry need regular fertilizers?
The pseudo-berries can be fertilized from the end of March to the beginning of August:
- no more from mid-August fertilize (otherwise the shoots can no longer lignify)
- Fertilize every 3 to 4 weeks
- Rhododendron fertilizer is well suited
- Use only lime-free fertilizer
- as an alternative to fertilization mulch z. B. with bark mulch
Do you have to overwinter the shamrock?
Mock berries are extreme hardy. They owe this to their origins in North America and Canada. You should only protect these plants from winter sun and freezing frost, for example with brushwood.
How is a pruning tolerated and how do you go about it?
Fake berries should not be cut radically. Rather, a light cut is recommended. A good time has come for pruning between mid-March and mid-April. Cut the shoots discreetly! This stimulates the formation of buds (secondary flowering is achieved) and accelerates growth. Dead, sick and old shoots can always be removed on frost-free days.
How does the care on the balcony differ?
The care of false berries in the tub, for example on the balcony, is more time-consuming:
- Keep the root ball slightly moist
- keep from drying out in winter
- use decalcified water for pouring
- fertilize from April
- Wait 1 year after repotting before fertilizing again for the first time
- use liquid fertilizer for fertilization
- Add fertilizer to the irrigation water once a month
- Winterproof down to -20 ° C (can be left outside)
Tips
Protect your pseudo-berries from drying out in summer by covering them with bark mulch!
