Which types of mango can you buy in Germany?

Mangoes offered in Germany are being sold out different countries imported, including India, the USA, Australia, Thailand and the Philippines. But mangoes are also grown in other parts of Southeast Asia, Central and South America, the Caribbean and the tropical regions of Africa.

Some common types of mango:

  • Kent: very sweet and juicy, small core
  • Keitt: sweeter full of flavor
  • Nam Dok Mai: very cute
  • Manila Super Mango: supposedly the sweetest mango in the world
  • Haden: most often offered, aromatic
  • King: mild-sweet, spicy

Do mango trees also grow in Germany?

Mango trees can be kept in Germany as indoor or balcony plants. They cannot be planted in the garden because they

not hardy are. Plants can hardly be bought, however. If you want to own a mango tree, you should grow it yourself.

Where can you buy mango seeds in Germany?

Unfortunately, you can't just buy mango seeds from a nursery. You may get some in a special delivery. The easiest way to grow a mango yourself is to plant a core from an eaten fruit. However, it must be completely freed from the pulp and cleaned so that it does not go moldy.

Use of mangoes

Mangoes are often used for fruit salads or desserts. They can be made into sorbet or smoothies. They are also very suitable for exotic dishes with poultry, fish or seafood.

The health effects of the mangoes are not insignificant. They contain a lot of vitamin A, improve blood clotting and strengthen the heart and immune system. Due to their low acid content, they are very digestible, in contrast to other exotic fruits.
