Why tying is so important
As long as the roots are not firmly attached, young trees should always be tied up. Otherwise, in poorly protected locations, the wind, intensified by movements in the crown, could gradually loosen the roots and tear them up again and again. The tying prevents this loosening and thus helps the tree to grow. As a rule, the support can be removed after two to three years, whereby the connection must always be adapted to the growth of the trunk. Otherwise the trunk can be constricted, which has not only visually unattractive consequences.

How to secure a tree with stakes
There are several ways to secure a tree with stakes. It is only important that you do not only open the supports after plants - this could severely damage the roots of the young tree. Instead, the piles are buried directly with the planting. You should also use thick cords made of natural materials for securing. Coconut fibers, for example, are very suitable.
Attach the tree to a single post
Probably the simplest method is to put a stake - typically made of wood or metal - with the tree. to be planted, the support aid being driven deep into the ground with a hammer and reaching at least to the end of the trunk should. Loop the coconut fiber cord around the trunk and post in the upper third. When doing this, wind eights that should not sit too loosely or too tightly - the tree and stake must not bend under the pressure, but must stand straight. Ideally, you should still wrap burlap around the trunk to protect the bark. It is even easier and safer to use special plastic tree straps that are attached with a buckle.
Three-point safety device for larger trees
If the tree to be planted is a bit larger, a single stake is often no longer sufficient to secure it. Instead, you now insert three posts in the shape of a triangle with the tree in the middle in the planting pit. It is secured with a tree strap or a coconut fiber rope as described in the section above. Don't forget to adjust the fuse as the tree grows.
Tips
You can secure a small bush with little effort by using old branches as supports and growth aids. This support crumbles by itself over time, but be careful: only use sturdy, dead branches. Fresh wood can sometimes cut itself out and take root again.
