Check technology

  • Thoroughly clean the devices.
  • Rinse out the filter sponges and change them if necessary.
  • UVC lamps only provide full output for one season, replace them.

Test water quality

As soon as the filter is put back into operation, you must ensure that there are sufficient filter bacteria in the sponges:

  • Switch off the UVC lamp for a few days.
  • Put the preparations enriched with bacteria directly on the filter sponges. The microorganisms accumulate here within a very short time.
  • Check the water quality. If the values do not correspond to the recommended values, you can use specific products for water care. These bind the excess nutrients and inhibit the growth of algae.

Feed water dwellers again

From a temperature of twelve degrees, you can look after yourself in the house during the winter months Fish back in the pond set. Now is the time to feed the animals again.

  • Use a new can of food, as a good supply of vitamins and nutrients is very important after a long period of hunger.
  • Supplement the feed once or twice a week with a multivitamin preparation.

When it comes to the amount of feed, the water temperature and the water quality play a major role:

  • If the water quality is poor, temporarily reduce the amount of feed.
  • If the water values are alright, feed about 1 percent of the fish weight daily.
