Is the pilea poisonous?

All parts of the Ufo plant are considered non-toxic. Even if the houseplant is in bloom, there is no danger to pets or small children who put the plant in their mouths.

Likelihood of confusion

The flower of the UFO plant is so inconspicuous that many people are not even aware of its existence. Accordingly, they are unclear about how exactly the flowers appear. Since these are small, white tufts, there is a risk of them having mildew to be confused. Although the pilea is considered to be very disease-resistant, aphids like to nestle on the green leaves. So check carefully whether the white spots on the leaves are not at the beginning of a pest infestation.

Note: Small ant trails are a clear sign that you need to protect your pilea from aphids. The insects are attracted not by the flower, but by the powdery mildew. They often enter into a symbiosis with the pests.
