Prefer beetroot in egg carton or egg shells: Instructions

You need:

  • two or three egg boxes or egg shells
  • Cultivation soil
  • Beetroot seeds
  • Watering can
  • Plastic wrap
  • clear plastic boxes
  • Toothpicks, scissors, or other sharp objects
  • rubber

This is how you do it:

  1. Cut the egg pastes apart so that they have individual bowls.
  2. If you are using eggshells, use a needle to poke a hole in the bottom of each individual shell. The hole serves as a drainage and leaves the roots of the plants in the Garden soil reach.
  3. Fill these bowls with Potting soil.
  4. Place the filled bowls in the plastic boxes.
  5. Press two to three beetroot seeds per bowl one to two centimeters deep into the soil and cover them with soil.
  6. Lightly water the soil.
  7. Now cover the plastic boxes with cellophane foil and attach them to the edge of the boxes with the rubbers.
  8. Use a pointed object to pierce several holes in the foil to allow some air and moisture (but not too much) to escape.
  9. Put your self-made growing dishes in a bright, warm place.
  10. The first plants can be seen after ten to fourteen days.

Eggshells Inexpensive, environmentally friendly, can be placed in the ground individually, including the shell Preparation: Pierce the bowl at the bottom, should be individually covered with foil to protect it from drying out
Egg carton Inexpensive, environmentally friendly, they can be placed in the ground individually together with the cardboard box Preparation: Cut cardboard boxes apart, should be covered with foil to protect against drying out
Coconut pellets Simple and practical, can be planted completely in the ground, no potting soil required Expensive, imported and therefore less environmentally friendly
