What is a perennial?
Botanists and gardeners understand a perennial to be a plant with certain properties. Perennials are perennial and herbaceous, they do not lignify like trees or bushes. The aboveground plant parts of many perennials die off every year after the vegetation period and form anew in the next year. Hibernate the underground parts (roots, bulbs, tubers or similar). But there are also evergreen perennials, such as banana trees.

What types of sun hat are there?
Rudbeckia and Echinacea have a similar appearance with radiant petals, like daisies. The flower head in the middle shows the genus very easily. In the Rudbeckia it is soft, in the Echinacea it is prickly and hard.
There are different types of the two sun hats sorts. The yellow coneflower blooms from July to October, not only in bright yellow but also in variations of orange-red or red-brown. The height varies depending on the variety from approx. 40 cm to about 2 m in the slit-leaved coneflower.
The classic color of the red sun hat is purple-pink. The color palette on offer now ranges from white to pale pink and orange to orange-red. The flowering time is a little shorter than that of the yellow coneflower, namely from July to September. Both genera are also available with double flowers.
Plant the sun hat correctly
Sonnenhut likes it sunny and warm, as the name suggests. The soil should be rich in nutrients, rather moist for the Rudbeckia, and more permeable for the Echinacea. Depending on the space available, you have the choice between low-growing ground cover and high-growing perennials.
