Common garlic - Allium sativum
The most common type of garlic is white or red onions. Usually between 5 and 15 bulbs are formed. Fresh harvested the taste is still mild. The sharpness increases after prolonged storage.
Snake garlic (Allium sativum var. ophioscorodon)
A conspicuous species with bizarrely twisted shoots. This garlic has a particularly mild aroma. Ideal for hobby gardeners who cannot make friends with the rather intrusive Allium sativum.
Chinese garlic (Allium tuberosum)
In this type, the leaves are essentially used. They taste wonderfully like garlic without causing the dreaded bad breath. Only a single onion forms.

Since elephant garlic has proven to be tolerant of cold, wet and dry conditions, even beginners can cultivate it. The taste is considered to be unusually mild for a garlic plant.
