Use Zeobacter lith in the garden pond in 8 steps

The right water quality in the garden pond is important, but unfortunately maintaining it is not an easy task. Usually, complicated and not inexpensive filter systems are used that consume a lot of time and usually also energy. Zeobacter lith should be an alternative:

    • (1) The basic material of Zeobacterlite is zeolite, a porous rock material. Zeolites are minerals that are part of the natural components of our earth's crust, but they can also be produced artificially. The minerals have a unique cavity structure with many pores and channels, which results in a huge inner surface. One gram of zeolite can have a surface area of up to 1000 square meters. As a result, zeolites have a similar effect to activated carbon, toxins such as z. B. Ammonia settles in the pores and can be used as natural filters.
    • (2) Zeobacterlite is zeolite that has been populated with microorganisms. This increases the water-cleaning effect of the zeolite, the use of Zeobacterlite should be increased natural-biological ways guarantee that the equilibrium of the water is established and lasting is maintained. Zeobacter lithium absorbs large amounts of organic nitrogen, binds them and acts as an ion exchanger that breaks down highly toxic ammonium. The ammonium is poisonous for fish and other aquatic animals, promotes the growth of algae and can cause eutrophication of the pond. Even the smallest concentrations of ammonium are very harmful to fish. If the oxygen content in the water is e.g. B. If the temperature is low, the ammonium can damage the gill system, and the growth rate is also disturbed by ammonium. The mineral also corrects the hardness of the water because ion exchange processes take place between sodium ions, magnesium and calcium ions. This has an important buffer effect, the water is in certain pH value ranges (approx. 7.0 - 7.5) neutralized. Other substances that can be absorbed are, for. B. free chlorine, heavy metals, cesium and strontium.
    • (3) The application is simple: Zeobacterlite is simply placed in a container, mesh bags or bottle-shaped PVC containers in a dark color with many small holes are recommended. The container is filled with zeolite and placed in the pond, preferably in the shallow water zone. How much Zeobacterlite is needed is determined by the pollutant load in the water; the amount can be between one and five kilograms per 1000 liters of water. When the water conditions improve, the amount can be reduced by half.
    • (4) The use of Zeobacter lith should make filter systems superfluous. The plant vegetation should increase, even without plant fertilizers. The colors of the fish should become more intense, fish diseases should hardly occur any more, so that the use of medication in the pond can be almost completely shut down.
    • (5) Zeobacter lith is offered by several vendors, e.g. B. from the company Heissner GmbH from 36341 Lauterbach, www.heissner.de. It sells the Zeobakterlith on Amazon, www.amazon, Yatego, www.yatego.com and hardware stores, z. B. Hornbach, www.hornbach.de, is also offered at low prices on eBay.
    • (6) Zeolite without microorganisms must be regenerated; this works through the use of table salt. To do this, water is placed in a container that can hold the amount of zeolite; 5 grams of iodine-free table salt should be dissolved per liter of water. The contaminated zeolite is added to the salt water solution and left to stand for 24 hours. Then the zeolite should be rinsed well, then it can be used again. If Zeobacter lith is regenerated in this way, the bacterial cultures are destroyed and the Zeobacter lith becomes normal zeolite.
    • (7) Zeobacter lith is said to work much longer than zeolite. When it is time to regenerate can be read from the water values. There are said to be pond owners who have Zeobacterlith in the water for 10 years without regeneration. If the bacterial cultures just have to work with normal force, they will last a long time. This can be the case especially in natural ponds, where less polluting substances have to be neutralized. Pollution often results from the evaporation of various plastic materials, so the more natural a pond is designed, the longer the Zeobacterlite will retain its effect.
  • (8) Anyone who doubts this or just wants to know exactly what is going on despite the good water quality can do so Have ion exchange capacity investigated in the laboratory, but unfortunately these investigations are not cheap (around 200 euros).
