Lighting conditions
The sequoia loves the blazing sun with a lot of light, but is also frugal in shady locations. In the summer, however, you will need to water your tree regularly in sunny spots. Soil condition

Its roots could possibly lift stones on the neighboring property. Last but not least, the broad crown casts a lot of shadow. So if you want to keep a sunny spot on the terrace, the sequoia must not be in the immediate vicinity either.
Weather protection
Sequoias do not have very deep roots and are therefore prone to strong winds. They are therefore more protected in a group, as the roots anchor each other. However, nearby trees can hinder each other's growth. It is therefore better to plant smaller bushes or ground cover at the foot of the Sequoias to give its roots a hold.
