Procedure when propagating via cuttings
Aronia bushes usually develop numerous new shoots and runners that can be used as cuttings. The shoots suitable for this are quite thin and often hang over.
- Select a suitable new drive.
- Cut this to a length of approx. 20 centimeters.
- The tip of the shoot is down to the bottom eye cut off.
- Remove about half of the remaining leaves.
- Plant the cutting at the desired location in the ground.
- Keep the soil nice and moist.
The cutting will take root and grow well in a short time. The best time to plant cuttings is early autumn, when it is still relatively sunny and warm and no cold snaps are to be expected. The plant is expected to produce flowers and fruit in the second year.
Propagate aronia using root shooters
Shoots that shoot directly from the root are called root shooters. They grow out of the ground alongside the actual main plant and should usually removed. However, they can also be used for the propagation of the aronia bushes. To do this, dig out these shoots together with the roots and plant them again in the desired location. Be careful not to damage the roots. You should also dig deep enough, because the aronia is deep-rooted.

In contrast to the cultivated forms, the wild form of the aronia can best be described with a sowing multiply. To do this, collect the seeds contained in the berries and simply sow them in the desired location in the spring. However, you can also prefer the plants on the windowsill or in the greenhouse and plant them out later.
