Root rot

Convertible roses are very sensitive to waterlogging. This fungal disease causes putrefaction of the root tissue from the root neck. The plant begins to wither and dies because the supply of nutrients is no longer guaranteed.

prevention

  • Apply a drainage layer Expanded clay(€ 16.36 at Amazon *) into the planter.
  • Substrate with some sand or Cactus soil Mix.
  • Water only when the top inches of the soil feel dry.

treatment

  • Pot the plant and carefully remove all damaged roots so as not to damage the still healthy root mass.
  • Repot the flowering plant as described above.

However, this treatment does not always bring the desired success, as the green rose is often so badly damaged that it does not survive.

Powdery mildew or downy mildew

In contrast to many other plants, the convertible rose is seldom from mildew infested. If this occurs, regardless of whether it is real or downy mildew, consistent action is required.

treatment

  • Sprayings with horsetail broth help very well with light infestation.
  • Treatment with milk or whey not only combats the disease but also helps the plant to build up resistance to the fungus.
  • You can use chemical preparations in the event of a very strong mildew infestation.

Sooty mildew

This fungal disease often occurs when aphids have settled on the convertible herb. They form a brown-black mushroom lawn on the honeydew that the animals excrete.

treatment

  • Wipe the fungus with a rag soaked in soapy water.
  • Fight aphids consistently so that the sooty mildew does not spread again.

Tips

Check the plant for diseases and pests at least once a week. This enables you to recognize them at an early stage, so that treatment with chemicals is not necessary in most cases.
