Why native trees are not suitable for indoor plants
Whether oak, beech, larch or maple: With a little skill and the right care, these native tree species can be used as bonsai raising. However, they are pure outdoor bonsai that belong outside and not in the room all year round. There are various reasons for this, but the most important is the change in the seasons and the associated dormancy. Native trees have adapted perfectly to this process in the course of evolution and react very sensitively when it is disturbed. In winter, these trees have to hibernate cold and are not allowed to stay in the warm living room - this exhausts the plants, leaches them out and ultimately leads to their death.

Fertilize necessary. Also keep in mind that not every tree species is equally compatible with pruning, and some trees are extremely vigorous and can grow very large in the bucket.Large selection of indoor trees
For the room culture, however, you should use the various Indoor trees that originally come from the tropical and subtropical regions of the world and therefore do not have a change of season. These trees can easily stay in the living room all year round, provided they have enough space and light. Suitable types are, for example:
- Room linden tree (Sparmannia africana)
- Weeping fig (Ficus benjamina)
- Violin case tree (Ficus lyrata)
- Rubber tree (Ficus elastica)
- Lucky Chestnut (Pachira aquatica)
- Room fir (Araucaria heterophylla)
Many are also suitable Palm species and palm-like plants such as the yucca palm (Yucca elephantipes), the dragon tree (Dracaena) or the Hemp palm (Trachycarpus fortunei) for indoor culture - although these plants are not, strictly speaking, trees.
Tips
Some tropical trees such as the avocado or the mango can also be grown from a seed or core with a little effort and a lot of patience. The plant that grows from it should, however, be cultivated in a winter garden if possible.
