Sick roots are the cause
If the baobab tree sheds its leaves permanently, however, unfavorable influences of its roots are also involved.
In exceptional cases it can happen that the roots are damaged during repotting. As a result, the entire root ball does not develop any further. The baobab tree no longer absorbs nutrients or even water.
However, the plant is not entirely lost. Alternatively, you can try to grow new offshoots from shoots or leaves.
Dangerous larvae of pests
Sciarid gnats are not the only natural enemies of the baobab tree. Their larvae cause much greater damage.
You feel particularly at home in the Andansonia soil. There they feed on the extremely digestible roots of the tree. As a result, they cease their activities.
In this case, you should not just repot, but especially up Beneficial insects set. Alternatively, amateur gardeners swear by the use of coffee grounds or lemon juice.
Strengthen the plant
The exotic baobab tree needs strong fertilization at regular intervals. Strong plants are characterized by special resistance to pests and diseases.
