Not every passiflora is a climbing plant

Speaking of climbing plants: not every passiflora grows, some species rather grow in the form of a shrub or even a small tree. P. arborea, for example, is a tree that grows free-standing and can reach heights of up to 15 meters. A few fully grown specimens have been found in Colombia, Ecuador, and Panama. P. lindeniana. This deciduous tree can reach up to 20 meters, although there are only a few known specimens left in the world. The impressive trees all have one thing in common: They are very rare. Passion flowers need a climbing aid

often sold as houseplants, but basically they are not suitable for indoor culture. The plants are very vigorous and need a lot of space for tendrils and climbing. The beautiful flowers also show only on the young side shoots, i. H. the more your Passiflora can grow and tendril, the more flowers it will develop. A sheltered, sunny location is therefore ideal on the balcony or in the garden, at best on a high wall or fence.
