Proper care in winter
The above container plants are hardy, but that doesn't mean they don't need winter protection. To be on the safe side, you should cover the earth with brushwood or leaves and the tubs with bubble wrap, Coconut mats(€ 21.90 at Amazon *) or another insulating material. It is also advisable to place the pots on styrofoam to protect them from frost from below.
It is particularly important that plants need water even in winter. Snow and ice do not provide moisture. For example, the potted plants may not freeze to death in freezing temperatures, but they can certainly die of thirst if it is very cold for a longer period of time. You should therefore use frost-free days for watering and above all protect your hardy potted plants in the case of prolonged frost with the above measures, so that the tubs are not complete freeze through.
