The Kalanchoe loves warmth
The summers are getting hotter and hotter, temperatures of over thirty degrees are no longer uncommon for us either. This is just right for the Kalanchoe, because it is one of those plants that like to be warm. As soon as the thermometer drops below fifteen degrees at night, you should bring it into your house quickly, because the frugal Kalanchoe is not hardy.

How do you hibernate?
Overwintering is possible without any problems, provided you take the following tips to heart:
- Place the Kalanchoe at room temperature, even inside the house the temperatures should not fall below 15 degrees.
- A room that is not lit in the evening is ideal.
- Keep the roots of the pot moderately moist, there is no fertilization at all.
The short days stimulate flower formation
The Kalanchoe is one of the short-day plants. This means that blooming specimens such as the Flaming Käthchen must not be reached by daylight for more than eight to nine hours over a period of several weeks. If this is not done,
the flowers are absent. If the Kalanchoe is in a room with artificial light, it should be darkened artificially:
- Cut a cardboard box so that the succulent plant is completely covered.
- Put it over the plant every day around 6 p.m. and first
- lose weight the next morning around eight o'clock.
There should also be owners who simply stow the pretty plant in a closet overnight. As is well known, necessity makes people inventive and in this case leads to certain flower success.
Tips
You can easily plant the Kalanchoe in a flower bed, dig it up again in autumn and keep it in a flower pot in the house until the next garden season. The undemanding succulents are also ideal for planting easy-care grave shells.
