However, we strongly advise against this, because Ytong sucks thanks to the countless fine Air bubbles quickly full of water - only to freeze and then close in the next winter crumble. Since raised beds are generally very humid, constant contact with water naturally cannot be avoided.

You have to pay attention to this when building raised beds with Ytong

If you still want to build a raised bed out of Ytong stones - for example because you have plenty of it left and don't know what to do with it - you should definitely heed our tips:

  • So a Ytong raised bed becomes never touch the ground to have.
  • The lowest row of walls should be built from water and frost-proof concrete blocks.
  • Only then do you wall with Ytong.
  • The stones are bonded together with cement or two-component glue.
  • Now they have to be rendered waterproof inside and outside, for example with bitumen.
  • Now paint the Ytong wall with facade paint.
  • Make sure you also dress the raised bed inside Pond liner the end.
  • Also make sure that the upper surface is also waterproofed.
  • Water must not be able to penetrate anywhere!

Once this is done, you can fill and plant the raised bed.

Tips
