Of the Kohlrabithat most people know from the supermarket, has the typical light green color. However, there are also lesser-known varieties with a different standard shape and color. The taste and shelf life, as well as the amount harvested, do not really change in these varieties, but they are an eye-catcher. In general, many of the established strains are of good texture and taste. Even with a very late harvest, lignification is hardly to be expected.

Ordering seeds for growing kohlrabi is either very easy with us or you can buy them at the garden center on site. However, it is also possible to plant young plants of different varieties.

  • Azure Star: fast growing, very early variety; purple tubers.
  • Blaro: reddish-purple variety of kohlrabi; much appreciated for their delicate and good taste; high yield and bulletproof.
  • Blue delicacy: fast growing variety with purple, rounded bulbs; beautiful look.
  • Delicacy whiter: fast growing variety with medium, light green kohlrabis; very tender and good aroma.
  • Delicacy Witte: light green and flat-round tubers; good in taste.
  • Express Forcer (F1): fast growing, very early variety; the kohlrabi meat is very tender and tasty; popular in commercial cultivation.
  • giant: slow in growth; Harvest time starts from August; the name suggests it giant, can achieve tuber weights of up to 5.5 kilos; do not harvest too late otherwise the meat will be very woody and hardly edible; Harvested at the right time, the tubers are tender and can be stored for a long time.
  • Knauf's early white: very early variety; forms light green and flat-round tubers; popular, traditional variety.
