Venus flytrap how to water?
The Venus Flytrap comes from natural conditions in the open field, where it takes root in permanently moist terrain. These conditions should also be simulated in the pot as well as possible. Regular watering keeps the plant substrate permanently moist. Make sure that you pour the water directly onto the plant substrate and not flat over the opened snap traps. The remaining water can lead to rotting of the catch leaves and would severely affect your darling.
notice: Waterlogging is poison for many potted plants. The Venus flytrap, on the other hand, can tolerate waterlogging and does very well with it over a period of time. So if you meant too well when watering, that's not a bad thing - the backed-up water increases the humidity and ensures a higher vitality of the flytrap.
Venus flytrap how often to water?
Since you should keep the plant substrate constantly moist, it is advisable to water it daily if the temperature conditions require it. Depending on the degree of evaporation, watering every two to three days can be sufficient. If you don't want to check the water level in the flytrap every day, a trivet has come in handy which always leaves some water after the penetrating watering as a work-saving measure proven.
Pour venus flytrap: the right water
Venus fly traps require low-lime water. It has proven itself to use collected and filtered rainwater, as this is low in ions due to the previous evaporation process. Another option is to use distilled water mixed with 10% tap water. The addition of tap water is very important, since distilled water has the property of withdrawing water from the plant cells due to its low ion concentration.
Water Venus flytrap in winter
In winter, the Venus flytrap goes into a kind of hibernation. During this time you should move them to suitable winter quarters (optimal temperature between 5 - 10 °C, but still with light). The watering rhythm and watering quantity must also be adjusted: keep the substrate slightly moist without waterlogging. Otherwise, the lower temperatures in the winter quarters could quickly lead to putrefaction processes that would damage your Venus flytrap.
