Peonies bloom at Pentecost, as the name says. However, it is not that simple. While in the past mainly the pink-red-colored perennial peonies bloomed in the cottage gardens, there are now many different varieties thanks to tireless perennial nurseries. The color spectrum extends from white, to yellow, pink and red. And the timing of flowering also varies. There are early, medium and late varieties.
The Lutea hybrids bloom early, from early to mid-May or late, in late May to early June. With these hybrids, the first yellow shrub peonies were bred, as corresponding wild species were crossed. When fully grown, these plants reach heights of about 1.20 to 1.50 m. They are then 10-12 years old.

Perennial Peonies
These are the most famous and oldest peonies. The peasant peony has been used since the Middle Ages Paeonia officinalis rubra plena bred. Other varieties that were then used for breeding came from China. The plants reach heights of around 60 to 100 cm and do well in the perennial bed. These peonies bloom for several weeks. In order for the perennials to stay beautiful for a long time, what has faded should be removed before the seeds start to form.Variety selection according to the time of flowering
