The foliage is valuable

There is nothing for our eyes, but the leaves are valuable for the flower bulb. It provides you with energy for the flowering phase and has an important task to perform afterwards. The tuber gradually draws all the nutrients out of the leaves and stores them for the next season. This is the only way that the coming bloom can flourish splendidly.

Let leaves wither

If you Reuse flower bulbs you should give them an opportunity to fill themselves with nutrients. Keep the leaves on until this process is complete. You will notice this when the leaves turn yellow and dry. Only then can they be cut off or fall off by themselves.

Remove dead flowers

After flowering, starts semen production. The plant invests a lot of energy in it. From the gardener's point of view, this is usually a waste that needs to be stopped. Therefore cut off dead flowers as soon as possible in order to strengthen the tuber growth. The stem should remain, however, because the tuber can retrieve the nutrients from it too.

Allow seed formation

Many Flower bulb varieties can be about seeds multiply. Spring bloomers, which are suitable for naturalization, can spread more and more in this way. If this is what you want, the withered flower must of course not be touched.
