Create streams
Basically, it's not that much more difficult to get one Stream like building a pond. There are only a few more things to consider when it comes to Bach:
- Streams should definitely be in the shade or Penumbra be created (in order to avoid excessive water loss through evaporation in summer)
- the same bank height and the capillary barrier on the banks (small gravel ditch) must be carried out very carefully here

You then have several options to seal the stream bed:
- a concrete bed
- so-called stream bowls
- Pond liner
Concrete bed
Pouring a concrete bed is laborious, but a very good option. You have to dig the trench a little deeper to be able to pour concrete. The main advantage here is the long durability and robustness.
Please note, however, that you will not be able to correct the run at all later (for example, if you want to remodel something in the garden).
Stream bowls
These bowls are usually either made of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP) or stainless steel (rarely). Their advantage is that they are very easy to work with and are often offered as complete sets. This means that you can create your stream with significantly less effort than with other elements, and you do not have to deal with capillary barriers or sealing measures.
However, the high price has a disadvantage here. Often, even “small” complete sets for a distance of just 1.50 meters cost around 150 EUR, and individual elements in lengths of 50 - 60 cm to supplement this often cost just as much. The durability is very good, and the elements are also environmentally neutral and biological.
Pond liner
Pond liner is the cheapest and most flexible form of stream lining. However, you often have to install additional stabilizing elements so that the pond liner does not slip. In this case, you must pay close attention to the capillary barrier. It is best to create a small, gravel-filled trench to the left and right of the bank that runs parallel to the pond.
A stone liner can be used as protection to cover the pond liner. This also protects the seal and offers a more natural look than laid pond liner.
Tips
If you create a stream with pond liner, you certainly have the greatest effort, but the lowest costs. This also gives you more flexibility than other methods if you want to change the course later.
