Dry celery leaves yourself

The fresh leaves of the celery can be dried without much effort. You can choose from three different

The dried celery keeps for about a year in screw-top jars, after which it slowly loses its aroma.

Air-dry celery leaves

To do this, you will need the leaves of one or two celery bulbs. If there is enough space, it can of course be more.

  1. Cut the stems from the tuber and wash the stems and leaves.
  2. Always tie two or three stems together in a bouquet.
  3. Hang the bundles in a dry and warm place and let them dry for at least three days. During this time, the leaves dry to the point that you can continue processing.
  4. Remove the bouquet of herbs.
  5. Strip off the leaves and chop them to the size you want.
  6. Place the chopped cabbage loosely on a sufficiently large tray or baking sheet and allow the celery to dry out. It should be in a dry and warm place again. After about ten days the leaves are completely dry.
  7. Now fill the dried herb into well-sealable jars and store them in a dark place.

Dry celery in the oven or in the automatic dehydrator

  1. Wash the celery leaves and pluck the leaves from the stems.
  2. Place the leaves loosely on a baking sheet with baking paper.
  3. Dry the herbs in the oven or in the dehydrator at around 50 degrees for several hours.

The celery is dry when it crumbles between your fingers.

Tips

If you want, you can finely crumble the dry herb and mix it with salt to make your own individual seasoning salt.
