Does Gemswurz have to be poured?

Like all spring bloomers, Gemswurz only needs to be watered when it has not rained for a long time. The soil shouldn't dry out completely, but it shouldn't be too damp either. Gemswurz does not tolerate waterlogging at all.

How is Gemswurz fertilized?

Gemswurz is a very undemanding plant that gets by with few nutrients. It is enough if it is fertilized with some organic fertilizer or ripe compost in the spring.

It is even better if you make the soil around the gemswort with organic materials mulch. This releases sufficient nutrients. In addition, the soil moisture is kept constant.

When is Gemswurz cut?

Cut off faded and dried out parts of the plant as soon as possible. This will extend the Heyday. Gemswurz can withstand heavy pruning in autumn. At this point, you can cut the plant back to the ground.

If you missed the pruning in autumn, use scissors in spring and shorten Gemswurz to about ten centimeters.

Tips

Gemswurz is not for humans poisonous. Chamois was even used as a medicinal plant in the past. In animals, however, the roots of the plant are said to be able to trigger symptoms of poisoning.
