What to watch out for when keeping marsh plants in the room

It is in the nature of things that marsh plants need moisture to live and thrive. Both the ground and the ambient air must be moist. While keeping the soil consistently moist is not a problem at all, the second aspect - the moist air - is a bit more difficult to manage.

Marsh plants have no place in the living room, hallway or office - there is usually very little humidity in these rooms. And especially when heating in cooler seasons, drought dominates. So it is better not to place marsh plants for the room in these rooms.

The bathroom and kitchen are much more suitable. The usual activities (showering / bathing, cooking) result in a high level of humidity. Aquatic plants can feel at home in these areas.

By the way, most of the marsh plants prefer a bright location in the room. So it makes sense to position them near the window. Otherwise you might have to help with artificial plant light.

Note: If you cannot guarantee the required humidity, you still have the option of using the Embed marsh plants in a terrarium.

Marsh plants in the room - recommendations for proper care

Marsh plants like to be sprayed regularly with lukewarm water that is as low in lime as possible in this way you prevent drought and, depending on the plant, prevent an unsightly yellow discoloration of the Leaves.

The most important maintenance measure is of course watering. Make sure that the root ball of your marsh plant is always well in the water and does not dry out.

Some swamp plants are particularly in need of nutrients, including papyrus. You should provide these plants with liquid fertilizer every three to four weeks.

Tips

If you can only place the marsh plants in a heated room, it makes sense to place a water-filled (non-flammable, heat-resistant) vessel on the heater. This way you increase the humidity in the room.
