The nut itself can look very different in terms of shape and size. Sometimes it is round, sometimes oval-cylindrical, sometimes egg-shaped and sometimes beak-shaped. It is 2.5 to eight centimeters long and 2.5 to five centimeters wide - with a shell thickness of 1.8 to 2.2 millimeters.

Interesting facts about nut yield and harvest

Walnut trees usually only produce fruit from an age of around ten to 20 years. Up to extraordinarily good ones

Income it takes even longer: from around 40 years of standing, the trees bring rich harvests. In old age, however, the yields decline again.

In addition to age, the following factors also play a role:

  • Location
  • variety

In addition, walnut trees do not fruit equally well every year - whether you can look forward to a lot of fruit depends a lot on the weather.

Exciting: large-crowned trees produce yields of up to 150 kilograms of nuts (mind you)!

Here is an overview of the average nut yield per year (per tree):

1. to 15. Standing year: 0 kg * (whether good or bad location)
16. until 25. Stand year: 10 or 7 kg (good resp. bad location)
26. up to 35. Year of standing: 25 resp. 15 kg
36. up to 60. Year of standing: 45 resp. 22 kg
61. up to 80. Year: 55 resp. 13 kg
81. until 100. Year of standing: 32 resp. 13 kg

* If there are already yields, then only very small ones (a few hundred grams).
