How to get thorns out of the skin

click fraud protection
  • baking powder: as an effective remedy for small splinters
  • duct tape: for people who are not sensitive to pain
  • olive oil: for children and sensitive people
  • Steam: as a last option

baking powder

Mix a tablespoon of baking soda with a little water and stir the home remedy until it has a mushy consistency. Spread the mixture over the place where the thorn has drawn into the meat. Cover it with a band-aid or wrap it with a gauze bandage. The leavening agent keeps the area moist, so that the skin softens and swells over the next few hours and the splinters come out.

duct tape

This method is suitable for people with a low level of pain sensation, because pulling it off causes pain due to adhering hairs. If the splinter has bored too deeply into the skin, even the strongest duct tape will not help. If the spike pokes out, press the tape firmly into place and then pull it off with a jerk. In the best-case scenario, the Spreisel will stick.

olive oil

This variant offers a gentle alternative if you cannot grasp the stinger with tweezers. Feet and hands are allowed to bathe in warm oil for 20 minutes, so that the skin softens and the splinter is squeezed out. If this shows up on the surface of the skin, it can be grasped with tweezers. Olive oil has a positive side effect because it cares for the sore spot.

Steam

If you don't have any of these around, bring water to a boil and pour it into a bowl. Expose the affected skin area to the steam so that the wood swells and pushes itself out of the wound. If the thorn does not show up after an application, you can repeat the treatment several times a day.

Tips

In the pharmacy there are special pull ointments, which are applied to the skin area and covered with a plaster. They do the job automatically and painlessly.
