Planting flower boxes in autumn - this is how it works
So that your tulips bloom punctually in spring, the flower bulbs move into position in autumn Flower box.(€ 149.00 at Amazon *) Anyone can be used as a substrate Potting soil in question that with some handfuls of perlite or Lava granules(€ 14.00 at Amazon *) gets more permeability. Between mid-October and early December, plant tulips on the balcony according to this scheme:
- Create a water-bearing drainage on the bottom of the box made of pebbles, potsherds or chippings
- Fill in a first layer of the enriched substrate on top
- Arrange large tulip bulbs side by side on the ground with the tips pointing upwards
- Fill in another layer of substrate, up to 2 fingers' widths below the box frame

Tips
They add opulent abundance to window boxes of tulips when you add the flowers combine with evergreen dwarf trees or ornamental grasses. Ideal planting partners include the white Japanese sedge (Carex morrowii), small periwinkle (Vinca minor) or ivy (Hedera helix).
