Choice of pot and location

Before planting, the pot should be selected with foresight. If only a small plant is to be planted, a medium-sized flower pot is sufficient. The more plants you want to use, the larger the flower pot needs to be so that the flowers can spread out well.
The location depends on the local conditions. If you only have one spot in the sun, choose your plants so that they can withstand direct sunlight. Regular watering must also be ensured. For a shady balcony, other plants should be chosen, for example green plants or herbs.

Planting the flower pot / flower pot step by step

First, gather all the necessary materials. You need the right flower pot,

Expanded clay(€ 16.36 at Amazon *) or gravel for drainage, possibly a drainage felt, Potting soil, of course the plants and, if you want, decorative elements.

  1. First, cover the drainage hole in the flower pot with a little expanded clay or gravel.
  2. A piece of drainage felt can be placed over this drainage so that the potting soil does not mix with the drainage layer.
  3. Now fill the flower pot or planter about two thirds of the way with soil.
  4. Put one or more plants in the pot.
  5. Fill in with soil around the plant.
  6. Press the soil down well, but leave about two cm of space to the edge of the pot. This way it can be poured better.
  7. For better thrive, you can use a handful Horn shavings,(€ 32.93 at Amazon *) a natural one Slow release fertilizer, to distribute.
  8. Water the plant well.

You can now decorate your planted pot. There are no limits to personal taste. White pebbles or colored bark mulch look pretty around the plant. Both have the additional advantage that the moisture underneath does not evaporate as quickly, the soil does not dry out.
