In principle, the propagation of cuttings works with the bougainvillea like with other cultivated plants: A shoot is cut and placed in a nursery pot for its own rooting. With the bougainvillea, however, this does not work so easily. Above all, your cutting needs a lot of ground warmth - and that over a long period of time. Step 1: cut and set the cutting
For the cuttings, choose a mature, but not yet lignified shoot of around 30 cm in length between the beginning of spring and mid-summer. You put this in a pot or a growing bed that offers increased soil warmth. The bougainvillea cuttings need around 30 to 35 ° C for rooting. So underfloor heating is practically indispensable.
